Building Bulletin 100, ‘Design for Fire Safety in Schools’ (BB100), advises how to design School Buildings so that they satisfy Part B of the Building Regulations as indicated in the DfE Output specification. In addition alternative guidance such as British Standard 9999. Existing Schools are required to undertake risk assessments to identify the general fire precautions needed to safeguard the safety of occupants in case of fire, including their safe means of escape.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) fire legislation has become simplified. The Department for Communities and Local Government has produced a guide for schools - fire safety risk assessment: educational premises. The guide deals with the provision and management of fire safety.

Subiraj is the Director with responsibility of the Fire Safety Engineering division of Osborn Associates Ltd.
Subiraj has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree and Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers, as well as Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK and Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) with over 30 years’ experience in the Fire protection.
Subiraj started his career as a Sprinkler designer and Project Manager in Malaysia and subsequently moved to the UK in 2008 and worked for a Level 4 Sprinkler Installing company in Portsmouth. Subiraj has had the opportunity of working on some of the most prestigious schemes in Malaysia, Macau, Qatar and in the UK. Subiraj joined Osborn Associates in 2012
As the team leader of the Fire Engineering Division, Subiraj manages Osborn Associate’s fire engineers who have extensive experience in various fire engineering designs. Projects include educational establishments, shopping centre and retail, residential buildings, commercial offices, hotels, and manufacturing projects.
